On September 13th, 2022 we are partnering with our community to host the inaugural Suicide Awareness Walk here in Wise County. Mental health issues impact so many. The more we can be open and honest about them, the less power they have over us all. This county-wide event allows friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers to walk side-by-side, supporting one another, acknowledging our mental health challenges, and remembering those we have lost to these painful struggles.
We ask that everyone register so that we can provide you with a luminary for the lighting ceremony at the close of the event:
- $28.00 registration – includes t-shirt and bib to write the name of someone that you are walking in honor of – (Limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the event)
- $0.00 registration – includes the luminary for our lighting ceremony
- No registration – all are welcome to participate, we just may not have a luminary for the moment of silence at the close if you are not registered
Upon registration and check in- you will receive your t-shirt and bib and if you are registered you will receive your luminary at the close of the walk. We will walk one mile starting and finishing at the Decatur courthouse. After the walk we will have guest speakers and close with a moment of silence.

We will have early check in, t-shirt and packet pick up at the Center for Emotional Wellness on September 12th from 9:00-5:00. The address is 1602 W. Business 380 , Decatur.
