Background
Dana is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from C.W. Post Long Island University, Dana moved to Texas in 2012. She seeks to serve a diverse population of children, adolescents and adults, with specific experience in areas of anxiety, depression, life stressors and transitions, behavioral issues, anger, and substance abuse. Dana uses an Eclectic Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach to counseling, adapting to the needs of her clients. Through personalized treatment goals and plans, she assists clients in developing skills for positive coping, assertiveness, boundary setting and anger, stress and time management.
Uniquely as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Dana integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Motivational Interviewing to support clients with substance abuse and dependency. She creates a safe atmosphere for exploration and collaboration: while identifying the client’s relationship with substances as well as their motivations for change, each individual can be directly involved in their treatment, goal setting and outcomes.
Additionally, substance dependency does not only impact the individual, but also their family and friends. Dana walks alongside these loved ones to help navigate the unique difficulties involved in being in a relationship with an individual experiencing addiction.
